In the realm of modern hard rock, it's easy to get lost in the noise—both literal and metaphorical. That's why when a song like "The Darkness" by Counter comes along, you can't help but take notice. Hailing from Western NC, the band has offered up a transcendent sonic experience that is sure to satisfy your craving for new music.
For starters Amy Olsen's vocals are the nucleus around which the entire song revolves. Her lush vocal harmonies add layers of complexity and emotion, making the chorus not just catchy but also profoundly moving.
The rhythm section, featuring Travis Whisnant on bass and Eli Roscoe on drums, is simply spectacular. Travis's bass lines are intricate yet tasteful, serving as the backbone of the song. Eli's drumming adds texture and dynamics, making ample use of cymbal splashes and double-bass kicks to accentuate the song's heavier sections.
