Arsenic Addiction's "XIX" is a fascinating exploration into the world of gothic metal, providing both fans and newcomers an experience that is dark, melodious, and ambitious. The band's dedication to their craft and willingness to experiment is prominent throughout the album.

The opening track "As Above" eases us into its world with a sense of impending change. The instrumentation is subtle, yet captivating, hinting at the grandeur that is to come. Lady Arsenic's ethereal vocals bring a sense of foreboding, ensuring the listener is hooked from the get-go. The raw energy of "Moon & Sun" is captivating. The contrasting harmonies and the intense interplay between guitars and vocals set an exhilarating pace.

"Air" provides a momentary respite, this acoustic instrumental feels like a quiet reflection, a midpoint to breathe and ponder; While "Tomb of Sleep" is a chaotic blend of serenity and turmoil, with the dueling vocals, pulsating drums, and dynamic guitar sections ensuring a memorable experience. The eeriness of the keys at the beginning of "Spirit" sets a haunting ambiance. As an instrumental, it lets the listener's imagination roam free, filling in stories and images.

"Summons" has a palpable sense of impending doom, this track stands out with its grand vocal performances and intricate guitar solos, making it a cornerstone of the album. "Ash of the Earth" showcases Arsenic Addiction's songwriting prowess, combining all their hallmark elements in perfect synergy. "Water" Serves as a palette cleanser, this instrumental feels like a gentle stream, guiding us towards the latter part of the album.

"Amethyst" An anthem that strikes a chord, the skillful blending of piano and guitar creates a poignant backdrop for the narrative. "Fire" is packed with all the intensity you'd expect from Gothic metal, the drumming and keys shine brightly, conveying a sense of urgency. "Maleficium" Continues the momentum, it's another classic gothic number with drums and keys that stand out, reflecting the band's consistency. "Earth" Grounding and soulful, the tribal drums and clean guitar riff accentuated by Lady Arsenic's vocals make this a standout piece.

So Below is a culmination of the album's journey. The dark choir and organ element combined with intense drumming closes off the album perfectly.

"XIX" by Arsenic Addiction is a rewarding album for those seeking a gothic metal experience and those who are not. "XIX" is both familiar and fresh. Its mix of intense and somber elements, complemented by strong musicianship, sets it apart. The band's fans will undoubtedly appreciate the effort and creativity put into this work, while newcomers will find an accessible entry point to Arsenic Addiction's world.
